Parish

I live in Killeagh, which is a small parish in the Diocese of Cloyne, Co. Cork, Ireland.
I'm an active member of the parish, and try to do my bit.
This is because of a few different reasons, but mainly because I'm Catholic, and believe that my faith calls me to take part, not just by going to mass, or doing other bits & pieces, but by using the gifts that I have to the best of my ability.

What's been going on recently?

New Bishop
In 2009 the then Bishop of Coyne, John Magee, was forced to retire because of his poor (terrible) handling of reports of child abuse within the diocese.  Since then the Diocese has been under administration by Dr. Clifford, of Cashel & Emily Diocese.
Yesterday, Sunday 27th Jan, Canon William Crean was ordained as the new bishop.

His first words look promising.
He spoke of the need for the banks to show more leniency towards those suffering from the financial crisis.  More importantly, I feel, he spoke about the damage done by those who abused children. How this damage is deep, the abuse went on for so long.

I hope that our new Bishop can lead a healing of those who were abused.  Let this be his priority.  The victims deserve that much.
